Why you’ll love South Korea
Seoul, Busan and the easiest country to move around that we sell, run as a group tour. Halal food is easy in central Seoul and takes planning outside it, so we plan the eating with you.

Korea is the easiest country to move around that we sell, and that changes what a trip there can be. Seoul to Busan is under three hours on the fast train, across the length of the country. The subway reaches everything, one card pays for all of it, and the trains leave at the minute they say they will. You spend your days in places rather than in traffic, which is not something we can say about most of this list.
Seoul first, because it takes as long as you give it. Gyeongbokgung with the guard change at the gate, the lanes of old tiled houses at Bukchon behind it, Insadong for tea and paper and brushes, Myeongdong after dark when the street food carts come out, Hongdae if you want to see what the young half of the country does on a Friday, and Namsan above all of it for the view of how far the city goes. An hour north of the city is the DMZ, which is the strangest morning you will spend anywhere: binoculars pointed at a country nobody in the room can visit. Then Busan at the other end, which is beach and port and fish market, the painted houses stacked up the hillside at Gamcheon, and a completely different temperament from the capital. Gyeongju in between is the old capital, low and green and full of burial mounds and temples, and it is where people who thought they were coming for cities end up happiest.
The seasons here are not decoration, they are the reason to pick one month over another. Spring blossom is short and everybody knows about it. October is the better bet, dry and clear with the hills turning, and it is our own preference. Midsummer is hot, humid and properly wet. Winter is genuinely cold and is the season for the mountains rather than the streets.
Now the thing we would want to be told, if we were the ones going. Korean food is one of the great reasons to travel there and it is also the part that takes planning on a Pakistani passport. Pork is not a niche ingredient in Korea, it is in a very large share of what a restaurant serves, and other meat is not halal by default. Around the mosque in Itaewon in Seoul there is a proper cluster of halal restaurants, the tourism authorities publish lists of halal-friendly places, and in central Seoul you will eat well without much effort. Outside Seoul and Busan it thins out quickly. Seafood is everywhere and is the reliable fallback, and it is superb. None of that is a reason not to go. It is a reason to plan the eating rather than assume it, and it is a large part of what we are for on this trip.
English is another one. Signage on transport and at the sights is good, spoken English is limited outside hotels and the tourist trade, and a translation app on your phone carries you further than you would expect. People are helpful about it.

We apply for your visa
We do the applying
A Pakistani passport needs a visa for South Korea. Visa services are part of the package: we prepare and file the application with you, and if the mission needs you in person we tell you when. The decision belongs to the Korean mission, so we do not promise an outcome.
What we need from you
We send you the list of documents for your passport and check them before anything is filed. If an appointment, biometrics or extra papers are needed for your passport, we tell you what and when.
If it is refused
Visa, embassy and visa service fees are not refunded, whatever the outcome. Anything else not yet spent is refunded, and we give you the figure in writing before you pay.
Ask for the visa checklistWhat our travellers say
Ibex global tour is the best tourism company in Pakistan. It was my 6th visit with them.
Great experience of travelling with ibex. Had few issues with my documents initially but later on they were sorted. The trip was amazing and very well curated.
Questions families ask
The visa
If my South Korea visa is refused, how much money do I lose to the authorities?
You lose the whole visa fee, and Korea says so more bluntly than most. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan states that the visa application fee shall be paid at the time of application, and that a refund is not possible even if the application is rejected.
Can a Pakistani apply for a Korean tourist visa at all?
Yes. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan lists a General Tourist Visa, category C-3-9, with a period of stay of up to 90 days, for individuals who wish to visit the Republic of Korea for vacation or leisure purposes.
What else happens if Korea refuses me, apart from losing the fee?
Two things that cost more than the money. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan states that a refused visa application can be reapplied for only after three months from the date of rejection, which means a refusal can put the trip dates out of reach even if you are willing to pay again.
Is there anything that can get me barred from applying to Korea again?
Yes, and the Embassy publishes it as a warning rather than leaving it implicit. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan states that any use of force during visa processing, including verbal abuse, physical assault, threats, throwing objects or exerting undue pressure on embassy staff, may result in a restriction on visa issuance for up to three years.

What happens to my money if the trip falls through?
IBEX charges no processing fee and no cancellation fee of its own. Whatever comes off is what the airline or the embassy keeps, and we show you what it was. Ask us for the figure on your own trip before you pay anything, and we will put it in writing.
There are eight of us. Do you quote differently?
Tell us how many of you there are before anyone pays a deposit. Group bookings are quoted by us directly rather than added up seat by seat off this page.
