Why you’ll love China

Beijing and Shanghai in a week, with the bullet train between the two cities instead of a second airport. We also run a ten day Zhangjiajie, Furong Town and Chongqing trip; ask us on WhatsApp when the next one leaves.

Read more about China

China is two different trips with us, and which one you want depends on whether you have come for the cities or for the landscape.

The first is the cities. Beijing and Shanghai in a week, with the bullet train between them instead of a second airport. Beijing carries Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and a full day on the Great Wall. Shanghai carries The Bund, Yuyuan Garden, the observation deck and the river cruise.

The other trip is the landscape. Zhangjiajie is the sandstone pillar country in Hunan, thousands of columns standing out of the forest, crossed on glass walkways and a cable car rather than on a long climb. Furong Town is the old waterfall town below it. Chongqing at the end is the opposite again, a mountain city stacked on its own hillsides with the river running through it. Ten days, and the distances inside China are covered for you. Tell us if it is the one you want and we will give you the dates for the next one.

A local guide travels with the group on both. That matters more here than on most routes, because almost nothing is signposted in a language a Pakistani traveller reads, and the difference between a guided day and an unguided one is the whole day.

We apply for your visa

We do the applying

The China visa is part of the package and the apostille is handled with it. We apply on your behalf. You do not deal with the embassy yourself and you do not pay the visa separately.

What we need from you

We send you the list of documents for your passport and check them before anything is filed. If an appointment, biometrics or extra papers are needed for your passport, we tell you what and when.

If it is refused

Visa, embassy and visa service fees are not refunded, whatever the outcome. Anything else not yet spent is refunded, and we give you the figure in writing before you pay.

Great experience of travelling with ibex. Had few issues with my documents initially but later on they were sorted. The trip was amazing and very well curated.

Questions families ask

The visa

If my China visa is refused, how much money do I lose to the authorities?

You lose the visa centre's service fee and nothing else, because China charges Pakistani ordinary passport holders no visa fee at all. The Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Islamabad charges an application service fee of PKR 13,200 including GST for its regular service, PKR 19,800 for its express service, and states in writing that application service fees are charged by the centre and are non-refundable.

Is it true that Pakistanis pay no Chinese visa fee?

Yes. The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad states that holders of diplomatic and official passports from every country except the United States, as well as ordinary passports from Pakistan, are exempt from paying all types of visa fees.

What is the Gerry's charge, and is it the same thing as the visa fee?

It is a separate charge and it is not a government fee. The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad states that it entrusted Gerry's Visa Application Service Center with collecting visa application documents on its behalf from May 2019, that Gerry's charges a service fee as a service provider, and that this fee is not associated with the Chinese Embassy.

Where does a Pakistani actually apply for a Chinese visa?

At the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Islamabad, not at the Embassy counter. The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad states that it entrusted Gerry's Visa Application Service Center with the collection of visa application documents on its behalf, and that Gerry's is responsible for consultation, answering enquiries, collecting documents and related services.
